Hello!
My first real experience with this program was at a Career Fair the fall of my senior year of college. I was feeling all the anxiety of a normal graduating senior along with the social anxiety that goes along with small talk and networking. I stopped by the City Year booth as a way to pass the time while the I waited for an opening at a nearby booth. The representative started by asking me, "What are your passions? There's a place for that in City Year." It lead to a really interesting conversation that made me feel like my input would really be valued and celebrated at City Year. And that feeling that someone believed in what I could bring to my team and to the kids was really what propelled me to apply, and eventually join, City Year. I have been reflecting on that initial conversation a lot as my year of service draws to a close. I am so thankful for that one moment. It has infinitely impacted my life. So drawing from the power of that moment, I'm working hard to fully invest in being present in all things and thankful for all things. -Megan
